The following results from the 2009 Memorial Day Shoot follow:
This shoot was sponsored by Shongum (and NJACC Member) Stan Gurski. We had
such a great turn out and the shooters kept coming, that we went out for more food.
The great lunch
of Baked Beans, Hot Dogs, and Spam prepared by our Chef Joe Lutz, worked out perfectly for the shoot. We had such a
great, but because the additional shooters did not stay for lunch, we ended up
with too many hotdogs and too much spam.
The weather was perfect and the range conditions could not have been better.
Every Bench was filled and every match had at least one entry.
Once again, the women did very well. Carolyn Waugh captured the top honors for
"Rosie the Riveter" and for "Pork Chop Hill" by winning the envent outright. Our other
woman shooter shot well also and provided suitable comptetion to Carolyn and to the men
she was competing with.
This match was primarily shot at 100 yards. As a result, we had no one shoot a perfect 10-Round
score. However, John Manicone did turn in a perfect Sniper Target.
Seen on the line this year: A couple of Brown Bess Muskets, a Springfield 1842 Musktet,
Flintlock Rifles, Trapdoor Springfields, Krag Rifles and Carbines, A Smith Carbine,
CASS Lever Guns, US M1917 Enfield, '03A3 and '03A4 Springfield Rifles, M1 Garands and
M1As, and more!
As usual, we all managed to eat very well and have a great time.
Special thanks once again to the Shongum Sportsmen's Association who made this shoot posssibe.
