THE NJACC
CAT SWAMP SHOOTING RANGE

Over a Half Century of Safe Shooting.
Originally owned by John Bell and in use at least as far back as 1954 (According to the testimony of a neighbor reported at the Allamuchy Planning Board Meeting of March 22, 2005) it became the property of the New Jersey Arms Collectors Club in 1957. Fifty yards of Firing line and able to place targets out to 100 yards the property offers a well, a lean-to type storage shed for protecting targets and frames, outdoor grill, picnic benches, parking areas and limited overhead cover. Over two dozen shooting benches and a 3 position pistol stand are also available for shooters who prefer not to fire prone, kneeling, sitting or standing. No aerial shotgun shooting permitted but patterning and siting rifles slugs on ground situated targets is acceptable."

Our organization is dedicated to the preservation of our firearms heritage and the evolution of military firearms that have played roles in our history. We achieve this by displaying and comparing our collections at our monthly meetings and to competing with our collections in marksmanship matches.

Historically, the NJACC has held several marksmanship competitions during the year. These informal matches are open to all who wish to compete with their collectibles and are centered around themes, like our meetings. Competitors with arms that fit into the theme of the day come and shoot. Events are centered around similar classes of guns, so shooters are able to compete on even level with each other.

Some of the shoots have been V-E Day, V-J Day (Victory in Europe & Victory in the Pacific -WWII), Armistice Day - WWI, Memorial Day, and others. Each shoot highlights several categories in which shooters with similar types of guns compete against each other. Trophies for the best scores are given out in various categories.

While our range has been temporarily closed, shooting activites have still been happening and are scheduled. The ANJRPC, of which we are members, allows us to schedule and hold two events per year at their Cherry Ridge Facility in Vernon.

Because Cherry Ridge offers a warm clubhouse with kitchen facilities, we have scheduled our Historical Winter Shoot and our End of the Evil Empire Shoot at the Cherry Ridge Range.

Some of our members are now belong to the Shongum Sportsmen Association, who also have a range. The range is located in Mansfield Township. Shongum has hosted some of our shoots and they offer an excellent venu.

Cherry Ridge also holds several competitions, seminars, and training sessions to further the goals of educating the public and our youth on the use and safety of firearms handling. Some of these shoots NEED VOLUNTEERS WITH AND WITHOUT specific guns. Check out the schedule below to see if you can help.
